Local TI artist Catherine Titasey created ‘A Hard Day’s Fishing’ for the cover of the 2007-08 Community Directory with much valuable input from husband Tony, her greatest critic and support.

Catherine works exclusively in pastel paint, which she believes best captures the vibrant colours of the Torres Strait. Resident of Thursday Island for almost 14 years, Catherine says she is captivated by the relaxed lifestyle of TI and wants to record snapshots of island life involving the sea, the essence of Torres Strait. She also has a passion for portraiture.

Catherine and Tony also operate Tony’s Island Adventures and the vessel, the Madam Dugong.Skipper Tony and the Madam Dugong are featured in the painting.

She paints on a commission basis and is now working toward an exhibition of portraits for the Torres Strait community.
